QAlgeria, the Algerian chapter of the global quantum education network QWorld, was inaugurated on April 14, 2024, coinciding with World Quantum Day. The chapter was launched by Constantine Quantum Technologies (CQTech), a research group at the University of Constantine 1, according to CQTech’s announcement.
QAlgeria’s founding team consists primarily of theoretical physicists from the University of Constantine 1, supported by computer science students specializing in artificial intelligence from the Higher National School of Artificial Intelligence in Algiers, according to the QWorld directory. Members are drawn from multiple Algerian institutions, including the University of Sciences and Technologies Houari Boumediene in Algiers.
An introductory QBronze quantum computing workshop accompanied the launch event on April 14. QAlgeria organizes workshops, talks, and webinars on quantum technologies for audiences across Algeria and the broader African continent.
