The 5th ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN) and related meetings took place in Bangkok, Thailand, under Thailand’s chairmanship. Among the topics discussed were AI governance and ethics, digital banking, and broader emerging technologies. The meeting also unveiled three new guides on AI governance and ethics, digital banking, and digital financial services, and announced plans for an ASEAN digital scholarship programme.
While quantum did not feature as a standalone agenda item, its inclusion in emerging technology discussions at the ministerial level represented a shift from earlier ASEAN digital meetings, where the topic had been entirely absent.
