The 2025 ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Training Programme took place in Seoul from November 24 to 29, 2025. Representatives from all 11 ASEAN member states participated, according to the ASEAN Science and Technology Network (ASTNET).
Supported by Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) since 2019, the programme’s 2025 edition centered on the theme “Enhancing STI Talent Mobility and Shared Innovation and Growth in ASEAN-ROK.” Key strategies discussed included strengthening regional capacity to address emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and synthetic biology, according to coverage by Khmer Times.
Boediastoeti Ontowirjo, Chair of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASEAN COSTI), said the programme helps encourage young scientists and engineers to pursue STI careers. Korea’s First Vice Minister of Science and ICT, Koo Hyuk Chae, noted the programme had already reached more than 700 participants from across the region. An accompanying ASEAN-Korea Work Plan on STI (2025-2027) outlines further cooperation in capacity building and human resource development.
