On February 1, 2024, the Eureka network opened a Call for Proposals on Applied Quantum Technologies, with both Flanders and Wallonia participating as Belgian funding partners. The call ran through May 9, 2024, and involved national funding bodies from 16 countries.
Flemish applicants could apply through the Flanders Innovation and Entrepreneurship agency (VLAIO), which funds research and development projects for companies based in Flanders with subsidies covering 25% to 70% of eligible costs. Walloon applicants submitted through SPW Research. Each region applied its own eligibility rules and funding instruments.
Fifteen countries allocated funding for the call, including Austria, Belgium (both regions), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The call sought to support organizations developing quantum technologies that outperform or accelerate existing technologies and contribute to solving problems relevant to industry, science, and society.
