Brazil: ITU Quantum World Tour Spotlights National Quantum Ecosystem

On November 7, 2025, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in partnership with The Quantum Insider, held a dedicated session on Brazil as part of its Quantum World Tour series. The 90-minute online event featured speakers from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), academia, and the private sector.

According to The Quantum Insider, the session included a briefing on national quantum efforts by Hamilton José Mendes da Silva, Director of the Department of Incentives for Digital Technologies at MCTI. Panel discussions featured researchers from the Federal University of Pará and the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, while a startup showcase presented QuaTI and Kryptus. A separate panel addressed workforce development, with participants from the University of Campinas and Senai Cimatec.

MCTI has placed quantum among its national priorities, according to the event description, supporting new research centers, funding programs, and international partnerships. Brazil was the second country featured in the Quantum World Tour, which launched during the 2025 AI for Good Global Summit.
