The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking signed hosting agreements for six quantum computers, including the LUMI-Q system to be hosted at IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre in Ostrava, Czech Republic. According to the EuroHPC JU, the LUMI-Q consortium planned to procure a quantum computer based on superconducting qubits in star-shape topology with one-to-all qubit connectivity, to be integrated into the EuroHPC supercomputer Karolina.
Nine European countries participated in the LUMI-Q consortium: the Czech Republic (as coordinator), Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Norway, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The signing formalized the operational arrangements for the quantum computer’s deployment, following the site selection in October 2022.
