The National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NUKIB) of the Czech Republic joined the joint statement “Securing Tomorrow, Today: Transitioning to Post-Quantum Cryptography.” According to NUKIB’s announcement, the non-binding document expressed the common position of 18 EU member states on the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC), urging public sector entities, critical infrastructure operators, IT providers, and the private sector to make PQC migration a priority.
NUKIB stated that it agreed with the document’s conclusions and supported the preparatory steps outlined, including performing analyses to assess quantum threat impact and preparing risk-oriented implementation roadmaps. The statement recommended migrating to PQC as soon as possible, ideally by 2030 at the latest, for the most sensitive use cases.
Together with France, Germany, the Netherlands, and other EU member states, the Czech Republic was also involved in a workstream within the NIS Cooperation Group tasked with preparing a PQC implementation roadmap following European Commission recommendations.
