Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) formally opened the IBM Quantum Innovation Center, bringing seven Czech universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences into the IBM Quantum Network. According to CTU’s announcement, the center was launched with financial support from the University of Defence, the military institution of higher education of the Czech Armed Forces.
Members of the center include Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, Brno University of Technology, Palacky University in Olomouc, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, the University of Defence, and the Czech Academy of Sciences. Access agreements were signed on June 11 at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at CTU.
In addition to cloud-based access to IBM’s quantum computing systems, CTU deployed IBM Guardium Quantum Safe software, IBM Quantum Safe Explorer, IBM Quantum Safe Remediator, and IBM Power 10 cryptographic cards for post-quantum cryptography education. Jan Farlik, Rector of the University of Defence, said the quantum-safe tools and quantum computing access would “expand the capabilities of the University of Defence and the Ministry of Defence.”
