On September 28, 2023, the Danish government released the second part of its National Strategy for Quantum Technology, focusing on commercialization, security, and international cooperation. The strategy allocates DKK 50 million annually from 2024-2027 to support these areas, according to the Danish Quantum Community’s summary.
Flagship initiatives include the establishment of Quantum House Denmark, a physical hub for quantum companies, researchers, startups, and investors, co-located near the University of Copenhagen. A national test center for quantum technology will be set up in partnership with the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The government also directed the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) to establish a European quantum fund to provide long-term capital for quantum technology development.
On security, the strategy called for a new secretariat to address emerging threats from quantum technologies and designated the national intelligence service PET as an advisor on quantum security. An international summer school on quantum science and new university course offerings from 2024 onward were also announced. The government further committed to establishing an international quantum hub and attracting foreign companies to the Danish quantum ecosystem.
