In April 2024, Denmark and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in quantum science and technology. Denmark’s Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, and UK Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation, Andrew Griffith, signed the agreement at an OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy meeting in Paris, according to the Danish Quantum Community.
Areas of cooperation outlined in the MoU include shared access to research infrastructure, use case development, scale-up opportunities, and funding opportunities for quantum industry. Ongoing bilateral dialogues and annual meetings between relevant government authorities from both countries are planned to review implementation.
Egelund said the UK is “a very attractive partner in the quantum field” and that the MoU brings Denmark’s quantum strategy “to a higher international level.” The agreement came one year after Denmark’s national quantum strategy was launched, which highlighted international research and innovation collaborations as a key priority.
