On February 12, 2026, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) inaugurated Euro-Q-Exa, a new quantum computer located at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) in Munich, Germany. The system is integrated into LRZ’s SuperMUC-NG supercomputer, offering European users a hybrid classical-quantum computing architecture.

According to the EuroHPC JU, Euro-Q-Exa initially offers 54 physical superconducting qubits, with a planned upgrade to 150 qubits by the end of 2026. Access for researchers and industry users across Germany and Europe will be provided via the Munich Quantum Portal and the EuroHPC JU access portal.

Euro-Q-Exa is the third EuroHPC quantum computer to become operational, following the inauguration of PIAST-Q in Poznan, Poland in June 2025, and VLQ in Ostrava, Czechia in September 2025. Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen attended the ceremony. EuroHPC JU Executive Director Anders Jensen described the inauguration as “another milestone in our journey towards a world-class European quantum computing infrastructure.”
