On January 15, 2026, the European Commission launched two new calls under the Digital, Industry, and Space cluster of the Horizon Europe Work Programme, allocating €307.3 million to digital innovation and competitiveness. Quantum technologies were among the areas covered by the funding.
According to the European Commission, investment in high-performance computing and computing technologies, including quantum, supports Europe’s Digital Decade targets. The funding built upon the European Innovation Council’s investment of approximately €350 million in quantum technology startups between 2021 and 2024, with additional EIC investments of up to €30 million per company prepared through the STEP Scaleup Call.
