In late 2025, QuantERA III launched as the third phase of the pan-European quantum technology funding program, with its first call for proposals closing on December 5, 2025. The program entered its new phase in mid-2025 and represents a shift from the ERA-NET Cofund model used in earlier iterations to a Research and Innovation Action within Horizon Europe, implemented with cascading grants.
According to QuantERA, the network has grown to include over 40 research funding organizations from more than 30 countries. QuantERA III builds on a decade of joint efforts to coordinate national quantum technology research funding and promote transnational collaboration. Prior phases funded dozens of projects involving thousands of researchers across Europe.
