France assumed the G7 presidency on January 1, 2026, identifying quantum computing among its digital priorities alongside security, artificial intelligence adoption, and children’s safety French Treasury overview of G7 presidency priorities. The French government stated it would coordinate its presidency with the United States presidency of the G20 in 2026 and seek to strengthen dialogue between the two groups.
Ministers indicated that France would focus on quantum computing and data protection as well as cybersecurity risks during its tenure. The 52nd G7 Summit is scheduled for June 15-17, 2026, in Évian-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie.
