On May 14, 2023, members of the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) were invited to present before G7 Science and Technology Ministers during the high-level meeting on “Quantum Innovation for a Better Future” held alongside the G7 Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting in Sendai, Japan. The ministerial meeting took place from May 12 to 14, 2023, under Japanese chairmanship.
As reported by QED-C, the four industry associations — QuIC, QED-C, QIC, and Q-STAR — presented their activities and perspectives on the growth of the global quantum industry. They highlighted the societal benefits of quantum technologies and encouraged G7 governments to collaborate on strengthening the global quantum market, with areas of common interest including standardization, intellectual property, and market access.
During the visit, the four associations toured NanoTerasu, a new 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility at Tohoku University, and engaged with leaders of Japan’s quantum research and industry community. The high-level quantum meeting was co-hosted by Tohoku University and Q-STAR.
