Countries & Organisations

On April 14, 2022, four quantum industry consortia released a joint statement for World Quantum Day announcing their intention to find new ways to work together to advance the global quantum ecosystem. The four consortia were the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) from the United States, the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC), Japan’s Quantum STrategic industry Alliance for Revolution (Q-STAR), and Quantum Industry Canada (QIC).

According to the joint statement published by QuIC, the consortia had been meeting informally and used the occasion of World Quantum Day to publicly signal their commitment to collaboration. Areas of shared interest included standardization, intellectual property, trade, and workforce development across the quantum technology sector.

The joint statement represented the earliest public coordination among the four associations that would later formalize as the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) in January 2023.
