The European Union and India held the first ministerial meeting of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) on May 16, 2023, in Brussels. According to the EEAS announcement, both partners committed to cooperation on quantum and high-performance computing research and development projects to address challenges such as climate change and natural disasters.
Working Group 1 on Strategic Technologies, Digital Governance, and Digital Connectivity covers areas including 5G/6G, AI, high-performance and quantum computing, semiconductors, and cybersecurity. The TTC was formally launched on February 6, 2023, following its announcement by Commission President von der Leyen and Prime Minister Modi in April 2022.
