Trinity College Dublin launched the Trinity Quantum Alliance (TQA), a collaboration bringing together experts from research and industry in a dedicated space in Trinity East for quantum science and technology projects, simulation, education, and computation. Founding partners include Microsoft, IBM, Horizon Quantum Computing, Algorithmiq, and Moody’s Analytics, according to Trinity’s announcement.
Professor John Goold, who directs Trinity’s MSc in Quantum Science and Technology, said the alliance would integrate research, education, and industry, with space available for virtual internships for MSc students. He noted the program had placed research and innovation at the center of teaching practices over the three years since its development.
IBM stated that one of its goals through the alliance is to make quantum computing accessible to as many people as possible, including the education necessary to prepare a growing quantum workforce. Dr. Joe Fitzsimons, CEO of Horizon Quantum Computing, said the TQA would provide a boost to the quantum ecosystem in Ireland as the company builds its presence in the country.
