In June 2017, Bar-Ilan University inaugurated its QUEST (Quantum Entanglement in Science and Technology) center at a kickoff event attended by scientists from Israel, Germany, Denmark, and the United States. The center was established to advance quantum entanglement research for both fundamental science and applied technology, as reported by The Times of Israel.

QUEST’s research agenda covers quantum computing, quantum metrology, and quantum communications, with a particular focus on entanglement at distances of hundreds or thousands of kilometers. The center later developed partnerships including a collaboration with the Technology Innovation Institute’s Quantum Research Center in Abu Dhabi on superconducting qubit technology.
