In 2020, the Israeli government increased the budget for the Israel National Quantum Initiative from NIS 1.25 billion to NIS 1.5 billion (~USD 430 million). The Jerusalem Post reported that the additional NIS 250 million was directed toward academic and private-sector quantum endeavors.
The budget increase came approximately one year after the initiative’s formal launch. At the time, Israel had a small but growing number of quantum technology companies, and the additional funding was allocated to accelerate both research and industrial capacity within the national program.
