By early 2025, MAFAT official Nadav Cohen reported that Israel’s quantum ecosystem had grown from 144 academic research groups at the National Quantum Initiative’s launch to 240, and quantum companies had increased from five to approximately 20, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Academic quantum research groups were distributed across the Weizmann Institute of Science, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Technion, Tel Aviv University, and Bar-Ilan University. On the industry side, Israeli quantum startups collectively attracted approximately USD 650 million in venture capital funding as of mid-2025, with companies spanning hardware, software, error correction, and control systems across the quantum stack.
