On January 16, 2026, Israel and the United States signed a joint statement establishing a strategic framework for cooperation in critical technologies including artificial intelligence, advanced computing, quantum computing, and supply chains. Israel became the first country to sign such a bilateral declaration under the Pax Silica framework, according to The Times of Israel.
Israel’s Head of the National AI Directorate, Brig.-Gen. (Res.) Erez Eskel, and US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg signed the statement in Jerusalem. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee said the cooperation covered “critical minerals, resilience of supply chains, the development of AI, quantum computing, and next generation technology.”
A Joint Economic Development Group was established to oversee implementation. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar described the declaration as “further proof of the undeniable fact: Just as the United States is indispensable for Israel, Israel is an indispensable asset for America.”
