On July 2, 2022, the OneQuantum Kenya chapter held its official launch event at Moringa School in Nairobi. The launch was co-hosted with Google Developer Groups (GDG) Nairobi, according to the event listing on GDG’s platform. The event introduced attendees to OneQuantum Kenya’s mission, vision, and ways to participate in quantum technology community activities.
OneQuantum is a global community platform with local chapters across multiple countries. Its Africa region includes chapters in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Congo, South Africa, and other nations. The organization offers mentoring programs, career services, and quantum technology projects to its members, with a stated emphasis on supporting women in quantum.
Kenya’s chapter became part of a growing network of community-led quantum technology initiatives across the continent, providing Kenyan researchers and enthusiasts with connections to global quantum ecosystems at a time when no formal national quantum strategy existed.
