On February 24, 2026, the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), in collaboration with the national innovation agency Luxinnovation, launched a joint call for research and development projects in data, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies. The call was issued under the government’s “Accelerating Digital Sovereignty 2030” strategic initiative.
According to the government announcement, eligible public research organizations may receive up to €500,000 in FNR funding, while eligible companies may receive up to €700,000 from the Ministry of the Economy under the national RDI framework. Projects are expected to run for 24 to 36 months.
Proposals must be submitted by consortia of companies and public research institutions, with no single partner contributing more than 70% of total project costs. Quantum-related topics covered include algorithms, simulation, and secure quantum communication. Project outline submissions opened on March 1, 2026, with full proposals due by July 1, 2026, and funding decisions expected by October 2026.
