MIMOS Berhad and South Korea’s SDT Inc. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 25, 2024, at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul to collaborate on quantum technology development and build an industrial ecosystem. According to The Quantum Insider, the ceremony was attended by SDT CEO Jiwon Yune, MIMOS CEO Saat Shukri Embong, Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang, and Korea’s Deputy Minister for Trade Cheong In-kyo.
Under the agreement, SDT will work with MIMOS to establish and operate Malaysia’s first quantum computing center, using SDT’s full-stack quantum computing technology alongside MIMOS’s research capabilities. The collaboration also extends to building a national quantum cryptography network with Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), utilizing SDT’s quantum key distribution (QKD) technology. Talent development through educational programs and commercialization of quantum technologies to realize Malaysia’s “Quantum Valley” vision are also covered by the MOU.
