MIMOS Berhad officially launched Malaysia’s first Quantum Intelligence Centre on February 25, 2025, at MIMOS Quantum Day 2025 in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang officiated the event. According to a statement from MIMOS, the centre will serve as an advanced R&D hub for quantum-related technologies, a platform for talent development, and a facilitator of industry collaboration.
MOSTI said the establishment of the centre aligned with the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN) 2021-2030. Minister Chang stated that MOSTI would “continue to strengthen research, education, and industry partnerships to ensure Malaysia’s competitiveness in this frontier technology.” Over 200 participants attended the event, including researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
A teaming agreement was also signed between MIMOS and South Korea’s SDT Inc. to establish Malaysia’s Quantum Valley, an innovation hub for quantum R&D, startups, and supply chain initiatives. Canadian-Singaporean firm Anyon Technologies will co-establish the centre alongside SDT, supplying hybrid quantum-classical computing infrastructure. Construction was scheduled to begin in 2025 with completion expected in 2026.
