Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform officially launched the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy on September 25, 2024, in Rabat. According to the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the strategy targets the creation of 240,000 direct digital jobs and a contribution to GDP by 2030, while establishing Morocco as a digitally productive country.
Head of government Aziz Akhannouch stated that the strategy mobilizes 1.1 billion dirhams (approximately $110 million) between 2024 and 2026 to train 100,000 young people annually in digital fields. Quantum computing is included among the emerging technologies referenced within the strategy’s scope, alongside AI, cloud computing, and blockchain.
Moroccan universities and research laboratories have aligned ongoing quantum research activities with the strategy’s objectives. Hassan 1st University in Settat, for example, has collaborated with international partners to organize conferences on quantum computing, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity under the Digital 2030 framework.
