The Faculty of Sciences at Mohammed V University in Rabat hosted a School and Workshop on Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Technology from February 4 to 13, 2026. According to the event listing from the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the workshop was organized in collaboration with the ICTP’s Physics Without Frontiers programme.
Over two weeks, master’s and PhD students received both fundamental and advanced courses on quantum technology topics. Sessions covered quantum computing and its applications, quantum machine learning, quantum cybersecurity, quantum thermodynamics, and many-body quantum systems. A dedicated session addressed quantum technology opportunities for African countries.
Keynote speakers included researchers from Los Alamos National Laboratory, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Paris-Saclay University, and several other international institutions. Moroccan speakers represented Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and Chouaib Doukkali University. Project coordinators from Mohammed V University and the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Technologies led the scientific organization. The ICTP noted that the objective was to train a new generation of researchers and professionals, contributing to the growth of the quantum information community in Morocco and across Africa.
