On May 13, 2025, the United Kingdom succeeded Denmark as the annual Chair of NATO’s Transatlantic Quantum Community (TQC). The handover took place at a meeting at NATO Headquarters, where Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska thanked Denmark for its role as inaugural Chair and expressed support for the UK’s incoming leadership.

According to NATO, the TQC brings together quantum experts from national governments, industry, academia, funding bodies, and research institutions from 22 Allies. Shekerinska stated that the Community provides “a unique platform for collaboration between quantum and defence industry and NATO end-users.”

Representatives from Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the European Union also participated in the week’s discussions. The TQC was established in 2024 as the first deliverable of NATO’s Quantum Technologies Strategy approved in late 2023.
