On April 29, 2021, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) launched its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) for 2021–2024 at an event in Abuja marking the agency’s twentieth anniversary. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, presented the document, which translates the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) into specific implementation initiatives under NITDA’s mandate.

Strategic Pillar 6 of the SRAP document addresses emerging technologies and explicitly names quantum computing alongside artificial intelligence, blockchain, advanced robotics, the internet of things, and synthetic biology. Under this pillar, the roadmap calls for capacity-building programs in emerging technologies, curriculum development at selected universities through the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), and preparation of young Nigerians for the fourth industrial revolution.

NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi said the agency was realigning its operations toward the goal of facilitating Nigeria’s development into a sustainable digital economy. No quantum-specific budget allocation was announced.
