Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high-level strategic meeting on May 21, 2025, to review progress on the Quantum Valley Pakistan initiative, according to a press release from the Press Information Department. Senior officials from the Ministry of Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Planning attended.
Dr. Najeeb Ullah, Member Science and Technology at the Planning Commission, briefed participants on the strategic design framework for Quantum Valley Pakistan, which was developed in collaboration with the St John’s Innovation Centre at the University of Cambridge. The Centre’s involvement followed discussions during Minister Iqbal’s visit to Cambridge.
According to the press release, the initiative will include science parks specializing in agri-tech, biotechnology, advanced materials, and minerals, targeting Technology Readiness Levels 3 to 6. Minister Iqbal described it as the first major initiative under the Science, Technology, and Engineering for Development (STED) program. Execution will involve the Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Defense, and the National Technology Fund (Ignite).
