The European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC) 2024 took place in Lisbon from November 17 to 20, 2024, organized and hosted by the Portuguese Quantum Institute (PQI). The conference drew over 650 participants from the academic, private, and public sectors across Europe, a record attendance for the annual event.

According to the Quantum Flagship summary, EQTC 2024 featured invited talks, panel discussions, poster sessions, and an exhibition. Yasser Omar, president of PQI and professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, hosted the event. The conference also served as the occasion to inaugurate the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology within the EU.

EQTC is the annual showcase of the EU Quantum Technologies Flagship, bringing together research and innovation networks to present developments across quantum computing, communication, sensing, and simulation. Demonstrations at the event included quantum gravimeters used for archaeological surveying in Lisbon and a QKD link between two locations in the city. Lisbon’s selection as host followed PQI’s growing international profile as a founding member of the European Quantum Software Institute.
