Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) organized the country’s first quantum computing workshop in May 2024. The event was delivered by the TASMU Innovation Lab in collaboration with experts from Quantinuum and brought together senior leaders and decision-makers from Qatar’s public and private sectors.
Eman Ahmad Al Kuwari, Director of Innovation at MCIT, said the workshop addressed the potential for Qatar to play a leading role in quantum-related industries. According to a report in The Peninsula Qatar, MCIT stated that this inaugural workshop set the stage for a series of future TASMU Innovation Lab events, supporting Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 and the country’s digital transformation plans.
MCIT noted that by 2030, Qatar envisions positioning itself in cybersecurity and cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence and quantum computing. The TASMU Innovation Lab is an MCIT initiative established to create an enabling environment for collaborative research and the adoption of innovative solutions addressing national priorities.
