Saudi Arabia: MCIT Launches Quantum Challenge with IBM and Saudi Quantum Technology Association

The Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched the Quantum Challenge on November 9, 2025, in partnership with IBM and the Saudi Quantum Technology Association. According to the MCIT announcement, the five-day educational and competitive experience ran from November 9 to 13, 2025.

As reported by Arab News, the challenge aimed to raise awareness of quantum computing among Saudi talent and enable participants to program using Qiskit. It also sought to strengthen skills in solving quantum optimization problems and applying them in artificial intelligence. Participants were guided from basic concepts to developing quantum-based solutions for real-world problems.

MCIT invited university students and graduates in computer science and advanced technologies to register for the challenge. The program was described as preparing a new generation of innovators to advance the Kingdom’s digital future, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
