On January 1, 2023, HPC Serbia was formally established as the country’s National Competence Center (NCC) for High-Performance Computing under the EuroCC2 initiative. The center brings together the Institute of Physics Belgrade, a national institute of the Republic of Serbia, and the University of Belgrade School of Electrical Engineering.
According to HPC Serbia, its mandate covers “promoting and supporting high-performance computing, data analysis, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and other state-of-the-art technologies.” The center delivers training, engages with industry, and supports the adoption of HPC services across academia, the public sector, and private enterprise.
HPC Serbia operates within the broader European network of national competence centers coordinated by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. By including quantum computing within its explicit scope, the NCC provides Serbian stakeholders with a point of access to European quantum computing resources and training programs, including those offered through affiliated EuroCC2 partner centers.
