Countries & Organisations

On November 24, 2021, Slovakia established the National Center for Quantum Technologies, known as QUTE.sk, as a non-profit association of legal persons. The center was created to support and develop research, implementation, and application of quantum technologies in the Slovak Republic. Founding members included the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization (MIRRI), the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth, and the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS).

QUTE.sk was structured around several key activities: creation of a virtual institute for quantum technologies research (iQUTE), development of an entanglement-based quantum communication infrastructure (netQUTE) as part of the EuroQCI initiative, establishment of an international training center (eduQUTE), and development of a single-photon detector. The National Security Authority of Slovakia joined as a member in February 2022.

Partner institutions span multiple Slovak universities and SAS institutes, including Comenius University in Bratislava, the Slovak University of Technology, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and several SAS research institutes. Accenture Slovakia also joined as an industry partner.
