On November 15, 2024, the Swiss National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) published an assessment document titled “Action required in relation to post-quantum cryptography (PQC).” The document is listed on the NCSC’s technology considerations page alongside a broader technical consideration on quantum computers and post-quantum cryptography.

According to a 2024 report on the implementation of the National Cyber Strategy, the NCSC carried out analyses of several technologies affecting cybersecurity, including post-quantum cryptography, quantum computing, and zero trust. These analyses fall under the strategy’s focus on researching the risks and opportunities of new technologies and methods for cybersecurity.

Switzerland’s approach to PQC generally follows international standards from ISO and ITU rather than creating standalone national frameworks. Swiss academia, particularly ETH Zurich and EPFL, has contributed to PQC algorithm development and analysis, while Swiss companies such as ID Quantique have been active in quantum-safe communication products since the early 2000s.
