The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) announced the results of the Swiss Quantum Call 2024, approving 13 projects for a total of CHF 16 million (~USD 17.6 million). According to the SNSF announcement, 36 applications were received, yielding a 36% success rate.

Of the 13 selected projects, seven received CHF 10 million through Horizon Europe transitional measures, while the remaining six were covered by CHF 6 million from the Swiss Quantum Initiative (SQI). All funding was provided by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), with a 15% overhead included. Funded projects span quantum computation (six projects), quantum sensing (four), quantum simulation (two), and quantum communication (one).

An evaluation panel of international experts assessed the proposals. Early-career researchers achieved a 43% success rate, compared to 34% for established scientists. Sixty-nine percent of beneficiaries will conduct their research within the ETH Domain. The call was based on the strategic considerations of the Swiss Quantum Commission and forms part of the ongoing SQI.
