On September 14, 2021, Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) officially announced the establishment of the Taiwan Quantum Program Office (TQPO). Former NSTC Minister Tsung-Tsong Wu made the announcement, according to Quantum Taiwan, the program’s official platform.
The TQPO was charged with integrating and coordinating quantum technology-related research across government departments and academic institutions, assisting in the establishment of high-performance research teams, enhancing coordination between projects, and managing overall program progress. Its stated goal was to consolidate resources from all sectors for quantum technology research and development in Taiwan.
Led by Convener Professor Shangjr Gwo, the office also formed an expert team to plan and monitor projects, assess research capabilities, and track milestones across the national quantum portfolio.
