On August 1, 2023, Chelpis Quantum Tech inaugurated the Quantum Safe Migration Center (QSMC) in Taipei, the first institution of its kind in Taiwan and Asia dedicated to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration. The center launched in partnership with academic institutions including Academia Sinica and the Institute for Information Industry, according to Taiwan News.

Chelpis founder Ming Chi stated that the QSMC would serve as a bridge connecting government, industry, academic institutions, and international researchers to strengthen Taiwan’s information security resilience. The center was tasked with providing enterprise quantum-safe solutions, conducting risk assessments, and driving the real-world implementation of PQC technology.

QSMC Director Matthias J. Kannwischer, who previously conducted PQC research at Academia Sinica and Germany’s Max Planck Institute, said the center would collaborate with researchers in Taiwan and worldwide to deploy quantum-resistant cryptography into production environments. Chelpis had maintained a research collaboration on PQC with Eindhoven University of Technology and Academia Sinica since 2006.
