Thailand Hosts Inaugural Siam Quantum Science and Technology Conference

Prince of Songkla University’s Faculty of Science hosted the inaugural Siam Quantum Science and Technology (SQST 2024) international conference from December 1–4, 2024, in Krabi, Thailand. According to the university’s announcement, Associate Professor Dr. Worawat Meevasana, Head of the Quantum Technology Research Initiative Collaboration (QTRic), delivered the opening keynote.

Over the four-day conference, experts delivered keynote speeches, presented research papers, and discussed topics including quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing. QTRic sessions showcased ongoing quantum technology research in Thailand, while ASEAN-focused talks highlighted work from neighboring countries to promote regional collaboration.

More than 100 attendees from around the world participated. SQST 2024 was the first international quantum science conference organized and held in Thailand, reflecting the growth of the country’s quantum research community to nearly 100 researchers, faculty members, and students. A second edition, SQST 2026, was announced at Chulalongkorn University for May 2026.
