Chulalongkorn University launched the Siam Quantum Square on January 26, 2026, describing it as the largest quantum center in Thailand. According to the university’s announcement, the center will operate under four core missions: developing quantum technology personnel, conducting strategic research, promoting cross-sector collaboration, and communicating quantum technology knowledge to the public.
President Wilert Puriwat stated that the center would serve as a hub for quantum data and development, supported through collaboration with the public sector, private sector, and international universities. Activities receive partial funding from the Reinventing University initiative under MHESI. The launch included the signing of memoranda of understanding with partners to help transition Thailand from a technology user to a technology owner.
Siam Quantum Square developed international master’s and doctoral programs in quantum technology and began planning student exchange discussions with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Japan’s National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS). Partnerships with IBM, the Chulalongkorn Graduate School, and QTFT were established to develop short courses and executive programs for the business sector.
