QTunisia, the Tunisian branch of the international quantum education network QWorld, held its inaugural workshop on September 25-27, 2020. According to the QWorld event page, the online workshop used the QBronze introductory tutorial to teach the basics of quantum computing and programming using Python and the Qiskit library.
Founded in 2020 by a group of students, QTunisia was established to promote quantum computing education and make it accessible in Tunisia and the broader North African region. As described on the QWorld website, the group organized workshops, talks, and webinars aimed at equipping participants with skills in quantum computing. Co-founder Sahar Ben Rached, a Ph.D. candidate in quantum computer architecture at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, had first engaged with quantum computing at the 2019 IBM Qiskit Camp Africa hackathon in Johannesburg.
QWorld is a non-profit global organization that brings together quantum computing researchers and enthusiasts across dozens of national chapters. QTunisia became one of the first such chapters in North Africa.
