United Kingdom Announces £40 Million Quantum Technologies for Fundamental Physics Programme

In September 2019, the UK government announced the £40 million Quantum Technologies for Fundamental Physics programme. The initiative, funded through UK Research and Innovation, supported projects applying quantum technologies to address questions in fundamental physics, according to the NQTP timeline.

The programme connected the UK’s quantum technology development efforts with basic science research, funding collaborative projects between quantum technology researchers and fundamental physicists. It represented an expansion of the NQTP’s scope beyond the commercial and industrial focus of the main Quantum Technology Hubs.
