UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP), in collaboration with the European University Institute (EUI), Sciences Po’s Tech and Global Affairs Innovation Hub, and Quantum Delta NL, organized a session on “Pioneering Responsible Global Governance for Quantum Technologies” at the WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event on May 31, 2024. The event took place at the ITU Montbrillant Building in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to the WSIS Forum agenda, the session explored the growing need for responsible global governance of quantum technologies. A draft policy brief on “Advancing Information for All through Responsible Global Governance of Quantum Technologies” was presented, and panelists discussed its key takeaways. A companion roundtable organized by Quantum Delta NL on “Shaping Inclusive Global Action Towards the Governance of Quantum Technologies” followed.

Both sessions gathered input from the WSIS+20 community and produced an outcome document. Participants included representatives from UNESCO, EUI, Quantum Delta NL, and the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), which had recently incubated the Open Quantum Institute at CERN.
