On December 9, 2025, Canada published the G7 2025 Industry, Digital and Technology Ministerial Declaration from meetings in Montréal held under Canada’s presidency. In its quantum section, the declaration says G7 ministers established a pilot G7 Joint Working Group on Quantum Technologies.
The ministerial declaration says the pilot group will inform cooperation on research, development, and commercialization, including voluntary joint calls for projects between interested members, advance policy dialogues on innovation and adoption, and assess societal impacts as quantum technologies move toward commercial and defence applications. The declaration links this work to the Kananaskis Common Vision adopted earlier in 2025.
