On April 9, 2026, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) opened a new Alliance Quantum grants call for proposals to advance the development and adoption of quantum technologies in Canada. The funding opportunity offers CAD 100,000 to CAD 650,000 per year (~US$72,000 to ~US$470,000) for up to two years.

NSERC said eligible proposals must advance one or more National Quantum Strategy missions in areas that include quantum algorithms and encryption, including post-quantum cryptography, communications, computing, materials, or sensing. The call also requires national security review documentation for eligible projects, including the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships risk assessment form and Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern attestations, as set out in the Alliance Quantum grants call.
