On March 27, 2023, the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) published Quantum 2030, the implementation plan for its quantum science and technology strategy. The document says it is a seven-year roadmap to prepare the Defence team for the disruptive potential of quantum technologies in defence and security.
The Quantum 2030 overview lists five calls to action: identify likely users, train personnel in quantum literacy, harmonize investments, access current technology through innovation programs, and engage industry and academia. It also identifies four technology missions to 2030: quantum-enhanced radar, quantum-enhanced light detection and ranging, quantum algorithms for defence and security, and quantum networking.
