Canada allocates close to CAD 6 million to 90 quantum projects through NSERC

On April 16, 2026, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) announced close to CAD 6 million (~US$4.3 million) for 90 quantum science and engineering projects. NSERC said the awards were tied to Budget 2025, the Defence Industrial Strategy, and the National Quantum Strategy.

The agency said the funding included CAD 3.9 million for nine active Alliance Quantum and Alliance Consortia Quantum projects involving Defence Research and Development Canada, CAD 0.8 million for 31 Alliance International Catalyst Quantum projects, and CAD 1.25 million for 50 G7 Countries Alliance International Catalyst Quantum projects. NSERC published the awards in the April 2026 funding announcement.
