In March 2025, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (MinCiencia) convened an Expanded Expert Roundtable in Santiago to refine the core pillars and technical proposals of the forthcoming National Quantum Technologies Strategy. The roundtable gathered input from academia, industry, government, and civil society.

According to Quantum Zeitgeist, the discussions “focused on consolidating technical inputs and proposals to advance the national quantum ecosystem.” The roundtable shaped guidelines for responsible integration of quantum technologies and fed directly into the draft strategy that MinCiencia would release for public consultation later in 2025.

The event built on the October 2024 recommendations of the Expert Commission on Quantum Technologies and drew additional participants from the broader Ibero-American research community, including members of the Red Iberoamericana para el Avance de la Ingeniería de Software Cuántico (RIPAISC). The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) also supported the strategy development process.
